Day 1 Arrival in Xi'an
Sites Visited: Drum & Bell Tower, Muslim Quarter, Ancient City Wall
Pick up at the airport and transfer to your hotel. After short rest, you will visit the Drum & Bell Tower, Muslim Quarter and Ancient City wall. Check in your hotel.
Day 2 Xian
Sites Visited: Terracotta Warriors and Horses, Yangling Emperor Mausoleum
After hotel breakfast, the guide will meet to and transfer to visit the amazing Terracotta Warriors and Horses Museum, which boasts the title of the World's Eighth Great Wonder. Here, you may see the clay soldiers and horses of distinct facial expressions and positions orderly arranged in battle formations and the famous Bronze Chariots and Horses, as well as many delicate bronze weapons, presenting a real scene of war in ancient China. After lunch, proceed to visit Yangling Emperor Mausoleum of the Han Dynasty. (Tang Tomb and Qing Tomb are maintaining for visiting).
Day 3 Xian/Tianshui by Train
Sites Visited: Maiji Shan Scenic Area and Grotto
After breakfast, you will take the morning train to Tianshui city to visit the Maiji Shan Scenic Area and Grotto. Overnight in Tianshui city.
Day 4 Tianshui/Xiahe
Sites Visited: Labrang Monastery
After hotel breakfast, transfer to Xiahe with 7hrs driving. On arrival in the afternoon, you will visit Labrang Monastery: One of the major monasteries of the Gelugpa (Yellow Hat) sect. The architectural layout follows the Tibetan style, while the construction patterns are mostly Tibetan, Han, or a mixture of the two. The White Towers (in the northeast and in the northwest) are very typical. After that, check in your hotel.
Day 5 Xiahe/Lanzhou
Sites Visited: Sangke Grassland
After hotel breakfast, you will visit the Sangke Grassland; Lying at an average altitude of over 3,000m above sea level, Sangke Grassland is situated a short 14km from Xiahe.This vast expanse of grassy plains, covering an area of around 70 square kilometers, is a lonely, beautiful place that is a nice change for those from bustling Chengdu or Lanzhou. There are only 4,000 Tibetan nomads on the grasslands, all wrapped up in their many, dirty layers, who graze yak herds and offer tourists the chance of a ride upon their horses.
Day 6 Lanzhou/Jiayuguan by train
Sites Visited: Binglingsi Thousand Buddha Caves
In the morning, you will have cruise from Liujiaxia Gorge to Binglingsi( fast boat), and Binglingsi Thousand Buddha Caves： These caves, which stretch for 200 meters, were built during the Western Qin, North Wei, Sui, Tang, and Song, Yuan, Ming, Qing dynasties (between the 3rd and 18th centuries). They are highly valued for their contribution to research into the history of Chinese painting, and the spread of Buddhism during that time. In the afternoon, take the train to Jiayuguan with 5hrs. On arrival, guide will pick up and escort you to the hotel.
Day 7 Jiayuguan
Sites Visited: Jiayuguan Great Wall, Weijin Tomb
You will have a full day to visit the Jiayuguan Pass, the Great Wall on the Cliff, Weijin Tomb, Great Walls Museum. The Jiayuguan Pass: This Ming Dynasty fort guards the strategic Jiayuguan pass, at the western end of the Great Wall – this was the last section built by the Ming Dynasty. The Great Wall on the Cliff: This is a nearby section of the Great wall which was built on the cliff, and includes sections at a 45 degrees angle, making it seem as if the wall is hanging from a cliff.Weijin Tomb: About 15 kilometers northeast of Jiayuguan, there are over 1,400 tombs which were built during the Wei and Jin dynasties (between the 3rd and 5th century). They feature brick wall paintings showing various social activities of the times.
Day 8 Jiayuguan/Dunhuang
Sites Visited: Yulin Grottoes
After breakfast, you will visit the Yulin Grottoes : These caves, with their murals and sculptures, are in a valley among Qilian Mountain, about 180kms from the Mogao Caves. The name is derived from the elms in the valley, and as you travel along the valley road you can easily imagine how it must have been to be a poet or brave solder in the distant past. In the afternoon, transfer to Dunhuang by vehicle. On arrival, check in your hotel.
Day 9 Dunhuang
Sites Visited: Mogao Grottoes, Echoing-Sand Mountain, the Crescent Lake
You will have a full day to visit the Mogao Grottoes, Echoing-Sand Mountain, the Crescent Lake.After dinner, transfer to the railway station to catch the night train with the soft sleeper to Turpan.Overnight on the train.Mogao Grottoes : Constructed over a millennium, from the 4th to the 14th centuries, the caves hold the world's richest treasure house of Buddhist sutras, murals and sculptures. Cameras are not permitted.Echoing-Sand Mountain and Crescent Moon Spring : The spring's name derives from the crescent moon shape taken by the small pool of spring water between two large sand dunes.
Day 10 Dunhuang Departure
In the morning after breakfast at your hotel, you will depart from Dunhuang airport for your next destination..Service End.
